Synergy Imaging Center is committed to providing excellence in radiography while exercising environmental responsibility by using our state-of-the-art digital technology to “go green” and reduce the environmental footprint of medical imaging.

Conventional imaging uses x-ray films to record images. A key component in these films is silver. In fact, 40% of all silver used in the United States is used in photographic materials (about 70 million troy ounces/year). Worldwide, one-fifth of all silver ends up in x-ray film. Processing x-ray film produces hazardous waste solutions that can contain very high levels of silver and by law require special handling for disposal.

From its beginning, Synergy Imaging Center has used 100% digital imaging techniques. We have never used a single x-ray film. It is estimated that “eliminating 50,000 analogue films saves 1,900 gallons of fixer and developer chemicals per year.” Digital radiography also uses less energy, and a digital X-ray system can reduce energy consumption by as much as 78%. In addition, by sharing images and results digitally, we have dramatically reduced the amount of paper and energy spent transporting documents. Thus, Synergy Imaging Center provides the latest in high-quality medical imaging while exercising eco-friendly techniques.
